The Area

Around Riverside Meadow

South Devon has a lot to offer – from peaceful seaside towns to bustling historical cities, to spectacular moorland and more. Riverside Meadow is perfectly located on the edge of Topsham. Explore it all with great public transport nearby. Quaint old pubs, supermarkets, garden centres, doctor’s surgeries and the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital are all within easy reach.

Topsham

Nearby historic Topsham is a quaint maritime town that was once a bustling port and shipbuilding hub. Retaining its link to the sea, Topsham now features a modern atmosphere thanks to the influx of a variety of specialist shops and modern restaurants to complement the existing traditional inns and pubs. For those looking for some sporting activity, Topsham offers its very own bowling club, plus a 25 metre outdoor swimming pool which is open from April to September.

Topsham is also the perfect place to sit and watch the sunset – whether from a waterside deck at one of the town’s restaurants, or from a park bench overlooking the River Exe or River Clyst. There’s the famous Goat Walk too – along the River Exe and looking down the estuary towards Exmouth and the sea – offering perfect tranquility.

Exeter

The historic city centre of Exeter is just ten minute’s bus ride from Riverside Meadow and is full to the brim with exciting history, shopping and entertainment opportunities. Famous for its 12th-century cathedral, Exeter is a bustling hub of activity and excitement and, as Devon’s capital city, there’s no shortage of things to do and see.

No matter what you’re looking for, you’re bound to find it in historic Exeter.

Exmouth

A 30-minute bus ride along the banks of the River Exe is Exmouth. Set along Devon’s Jurassic Coast, Exmouth is one of the oldest and prettiest seaside towns in South Devon. Featuring two miles of golden sands, the beaches and stunning scenery of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site make for a great place to take a seaside stroll. Exmouth is a hive of activity and is home to a wide array of pubs, restaurants and cafes, making it an ideal spot for a meal with a sea view.

Sidmouth

The coastal town of Sidmouth is a beautiful look back to the Regency era when the British seaside holiday was at its peak. Set within the beautiful countryside of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Sidmouth is accessible by bus (or car), making it a great destination for a day out, exploring nature and enjoying the relaxed atmosphere of one of Britain’s finest seaside towns.

Dartmoor

Dartmoor offers some of the most striking scenery in all of the South West. This ancient landscape features stunning views, serene rivers and deep enchanted forests. Despite its rugged nature, Dartmoor has a gentle side too, with quiet and easy routes for walking or cycling along with wide open, family-friendly spaces. As well as the fantastic scenery, Dartmoor offers a wide range of other things to see and do. From zoos to abbeys to gardens.

The eastern side of the Dartmoor National Park can be reached by bus from Riverside Meadow, meaning you don’t need to drive to enjoy a great day out in the countryside.

These are just some of the great places that the area surrounding Riverside Meadow has to offer. Thanks to its superb location in Topsham on the River Exe, Riverside Meadow offers easy access to a wide range of fantastic sights and experiences.
